The landscape of Prevalle is the setting for the Bicigrill, positioned along the Gavardina bicycle path which connects Brescia to Salò, in Northern Italy. The compositional principles that guide the architecture of this building are characterized by a voluntary simplicity. The archetypal double-pitched front becomes an instrument of collective identification, while the choice of a “skin” composed of terracotta shingles lends a hardness that is balanced with the innovative use of a traditional material.

The Bicigrill not only is a meeting point for cyclists and runners, but also serves as a gathering place for many activities for the entire community. It is a place designed to be part of people’s daily lives, providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for all.

The building was conceived following the principles of prefabricated wooden systems, thus giving it an eco-friendly imprint right from the foundations. The attention to detail and sustainability was also evident in the choice to cover the entire prefabricated wooden structure with terracotta shingles, a traditional material revisited in a contemporary way.

This covering, narrating the character of the building, also serves as an element of completion of the ventilated wall, thus contributing to the overall energy performance of the building.
